Greetings from Mr. Gruenenwald and Mrs. Virk!
Welcome back! Welcome also to new families and new staff in our Springvalley Middle School community. New students are still registering and we are growing larger by the day. We have more students than we have had in many years, pushing over 560 this year. More CEAs will also be joining us over the next week.
We hope you've had a great break and are feeling refreshed and excited about returning to school - six months of limited contact has been difficult! We are looking forward to a fresh school year, full of excitement, growth and new opportunities. Please take advantage of the many opportunities that SMS offers and take some time, early in the year, to set some personal learning goals. It's far easier for you to recognize your own success when you have a goal to work toward.
We believe that learning is something that happens everywhere and all the time, not just the classroom, and that in order to be effective educators, we must also continue to learn. To that end, staff from Springvalley Middle, Rutland Middle and Rutland Senior regularly collaborate and learn together. We will also be working with our family of Elementary schools as we move forward, to ensure that the transition from one level to another is as seamless and easy as possible.
At Springvalley Middle School we strive to provide the best possible support for our students - ensuring that each student's academic, social and emotional needs are being met. In order to do this effectively, it is crucial that open communication occurs between the school and the home. To that end, we welcome and encourage you to be in regular communication with each of your child's teachers, as well as with administration. If you have questions at any time, please do not hesitate to call or email us. 250-870-5111
Finally, as the new school year begins, we look forward to all that the year holds in store for us and hope for nothing but success for each and every member of our community as we make the journey together through the middle years! Remember, Be U!
Mr. Thomas Gruenenwald,
Mrs. Jasmeet Virk,
