Hello from Mrs. Relova and Ms. Ramsey!
Welcome back to a brand-new school year at Springvalley Middle! We are so glad to see returning families and to welcome the many new students and staff joining our community this year. Each September brings fresh energy and excitement, and we are looking forward to another year of growth, discovery, and success together. This year is extra special because we have a new admin team and we are looking forward to creating new memories with your families as you walk through this exciting learning journey.
This year, our school theme is Out Of This World. At SMS, we consider all of our students stars, as they all shine bright to make SMS the amazing place it is. This year we are focusing on celebrating diversity, courage, strength, and growth as we venture into a new year with our amazing stars. We at SMS, have a special place in this world, one where our students get to try new things, make mistakes, and feel supported as they enter the next chapter of their lives. Our staff, the guiding planets, work hard to make sure all our stars have a safe place in this world.
Our district focus this year is on agency; the belief that every student can shape their learning and their world. At SMS, staff will support students in developing a strong sense of belonging, a positive identity, provide opportunities to engage in meaningful inquiry, and help them grow their efficacy to make a difference.
As always, we believe that learning goes beyond the classroom. We will continue to collaborate with our Rutland family of schools and work hard to support each student’s academic, social, and emotional growth. To make this a success, we encourage open communication between school and home. Please reach out to your child’s teachers or to us anytime—you are an important part of your child’s learning journey.
We are excited for the year ahead and all the opportunities it will bring. Together, let’s make this a year filled with growth, kindness, and courage. Most of all, we encourage you to dream beyond the stars this year because at SMS, you are Out Of This World.
